Purpose of the mission: From December 2 to December 29, 2025, seminars and practical classes were conducted for medical professionals visiting from the Republic of Uzbekistan, based on a daily plan developed by KNUH (Kyungpook National University Hospital) staff. In line with the curriculum, visits were organized to familiarize participants with the workflows of rehabilitation departments. It was proposed to integrate the acquired theoretical and practical rehabilitation skills into Uzbekistan’s healthcare system and include them in the educational process.
The following medical professional participated as part of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan:
Boisov Suxrob Komildjonovich — Assistant of the Department of “Medical Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, Folk Medicine, and Physical Education” at Tashkent State Medical University. Rehabilitation physician at the National Center for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics of Persons with Disabilities.

During the training program, lectures and practical classes were held on the following topics:
- Post-stroke rehabilitation
- Conducting tests for rehabilitation
- Methods for assessing functional status in rehabilitation
- VFSS (videofluoroscopic swallowing study) and diet
- Rehabilitation for cognitive impairments
- Post-spinal cord injury rehabilitation
- Ultrasound-guided injections and assessment
- Plasticity and reorganization
- Electrodiagnostic studies: NCV (Nerve Conduction Velocity) and EMG

- Diet modification for patients with dysphagia

- Pediatric rehabilitation
- Physical, speech, and occupational therapy in pediatric rehabilitation
- MAS, ROM, and MMT tests
- Step-by-step task-oriented gait training
We familiarized ourselves with the training curricula for physical therapy practitioners. Specifically:
- To become a rehabilitation physician:
- 6 years in a medical institute
- 2 years in internship
- 2 years in residency
- Physical Therapist:
- 3 years in a medical college
- Occupational Therapist:
- 4 years in a medical college

In order to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the internship and to achieve high rehabilitation efficiency for persons with disabilities, we consider it necessary to implement the following:
- Organization of rehabilitation services in centers through a fully electronic system.
- Integration of the International Classification of Functioning (ICF), functional tests, and scales into rehabilitation practice to increase efficiency.
- Training of specialists—Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists—and their continuous professional development.
- Implementation of early rehabilitation in cooperation with the National Agency for Social Protection and the Ministry of Health. This will achieve a significant reduction in disability rates in the Republic.
- Utilizing stimulation devices to improve swallowing function and efficiency for persons with disabilities who have swallowing problems.
